Important news
We have been seeking God's will for the future of Woodley Airfield Church for some time and seeing indications that major changes would
be required. We have come to the conclusion that it is not sustainable in its current form - as a stand-alone Local Ecumenical Partnership -
and that we are being called by God to serve him in a different way. It became clear that he was leading us to work with, and as part of, a bigger
congregation with more resources and offering more opportunities to use the gifts he has given us.
It has been agreed by our Church Meeting that the time has come to close the LEP known as Woodley Airfield Church and to move on to new
challenges and new ways of serving God and his people. We rejoice in the many blessings we have seen over the last (almost) 30 years
and we thank God for his guidance and his equipping for the challenges he has placed before us. We are grateful too for the ministry
of many ordained clergy over the years, and we are particularly thankful to Revd Dr James Mather who helped and supported us through
the lockdown, when so many churches were unable to continue.
We will be joining forces with Christ Church, Woodley and they have agreed to take on board our main mission projects: the work in the CofE
Primary School and the online prayer meetings. There may also be an opportunity to restart the outreach of the Herald Puppets, who have been
waiting some time for a return to the light of day!
Woodley Airfield Church will cease to meet for worship at the end of May but will not be offically closed until all the required formalities
have been completed. In the meantime, if you wish to contact us please refer to the
Christ Church Woodley team who will pass on your query to the appropriate person.
                          Worship
The last of our regular Sunday morning worship services will be at the school on May 28th, beginning at 10:30am. It will be a celebration of God's love and faithfulness,
led by members of our congregation and will include prayer, praise and worship.
Most of our members will worship with Christ Church on Sundays from June: we will also continue our online prayer meetings.
